BEAUTIFICATION
We think our neighborhood is beautiful, and we’re always looking for volunteers to help us keep it that way. Through our volunteer efforts, we’re able to enhance our public spaces, bring the neighborhood together around public art displays and host quarterly clean-up events. Mia McDonough heads this committee.
The Beautification Committee is responsible for:

- Organizing quarterly neighborhood clean-ups
- Communicating neighborhood needs with City of Atlanta Parks Department
- Working with organizations like Park Pride and Trees Atlanta to ensure neighborhood representation
- Work with Fundraising Committee Chair to identify any grants related to neighborhood beautification
EDUCATION
The foundation of a community begins with the education of its residents. Dani Miltz serves as Education Chair. The Fourth Ward Alliance actively supports neighborhood schools, including Hope-Hill Elementary School. Other schools in our district include Inman Middle School, Grady High School, and the soon-to-be-opened historic David T. Howard school building, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. attended elementary school.
Education Committee Members:

- Attend monthly meetings for School Board Representatives
- Attend and encourage participation in quarterly PTA meetings for local schools
- Report education issues to the board and general body
LAND USE
When builders come to our neighborhood, we get involved. Fourth Ward Alliance reviews proposals for commercial and residential developments prior to presenting them to the neighborhood. Keith DeCay leads the Land Use Committee.
The Land Use Committee:
- Attends the monthly NPU Meeting
- Attends the monthly Land Use Meeting
- Works with both residents and developers
- Manages meeting land use presentations
- Reviews all land use applications
- Reports back to the general body and board
NPU-M Executive Committee and Land Use meetings take place on the 2nd Monday of each month at Cosby Spears Towers at 355 North Avenue, 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend!
PUBLIC SAFETY & CODE ENFORCEMENT
Safety and peace of mind are pillars of a strong community. Fourth Ward Alliance’s public safety committee is looking for a leader. The Atlanta Police Department officers and the local prosecutor present public safety updates at each FWA meeting. Derrick Parker leads this committee.
The Public Safety Committee:
- Attends and represents FWA at monthly public safety meeting
- Reports public safety issues to the board and general body
- Retains a relationship with Lt. Little and police in Old Fourth Ward
